Home InspectorYou can type in “Washington, D.C. home inspector” to about any search engine and find page after page of listings for inspectors promising to be the very best. However, as we all know, you can’t believe everything you read on the Internet. So just how can you determine who to trust with your residential inspection? At ProTec Inspection Services, we encourage you to evaluate an inspector based on three categories.

What are past customers saying about their experience with that inspector? Check out the customer reviews or service-review websites that give you a firsthand look at what kind of reputation that inspection company has in the greater Washington, D.C. community. If you have friends or family members who can vouch for their service, even better. No matter what, pay attention to what people are saying.

How long has that inspector been working in the community? While length of service doesn’t always guarantee quality, it generally isn’t a negative sign. Businesses that stick around tend to be doing something right, so if an inspector has 10, 20, or more years in the industry, count that as a good sign. Read through a company’s About Us page to find out more about who they are and how long they’ve been around.

Be sure to hire an inspector who has taken the time to be certified by the American Society of Home Inspectors and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. At ProTec, we make sure all our inspectors have these credentials, and we continue training them over time to guarantee they remain at their best.

If you find a home inspector that meets these basic requirements, you can feel confident pursuing his or her services.
